Steven R. and Kathleen P. Haley Professorship in Neurosurgery
In keeping with the Brain Science Foundation mission to strengthen and expedite research for primary brain tumors, the BSF founders, Steven and Kathleen Haley, have privately endowed a Professorship at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. This Professorship is made in honor of Dr. Peter McLaren Black, and will be named the Steven R. and Kathleen P. Haley Professorship in Neurosurgery and will enhance the excellence of investigation into brain tumors and related topics.
The incumbent of the Steven R. and Kathleen P. Haley Professorship in Neurosurgery will be a scientist already distinguished for his or her work in Neuroscience or Oncology who will be appointed in the Department of Neurosurgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
The Haleys are particularly interested in research into brain tumors, especially meningiomas. The incumbent’s work may be in basic science, technology, clinical investigation including epidemiology, or other areas relevant to brain tumors at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The establishment of this professorship builds the leadership capacities of both the Harvard Medical School and the Department of Neurosurgery at the Brigham. The selection committee at the Harvard Medical School is currently reviewing candidates for this professorship.
