BSF Medical Advisor Dr. Peter M. Black to Speak on His Recently Published Book "Living with a Brain Tumor" on Monday, March 5, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.., at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Bretholtz Center

In Honor of Brain Awareness Week, the Brain Science Foundation Will Sponsor Replay Throughout March

Dr. Peter M. Black will discuss his latest book, "Living with a Brain Tumor, Dr. Peter Black’s Guide to Taking Control of Your Treatment," at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Bretholtz Center in The Michele and Howard Kessler Health Education Library on Monday, March 5, 2007, from 1:00-2:00 pm. This free event offers attendees the opportunity to hear Dr. Black discuss the inspiration behind his first book for patients, for their families and friends; and for the doctors, nurses, and mental health professionals who treat, comfort, and advise them. Following his discussion, Dr. Black will take questions as well as sign book copies.

Having cared for more than 5,000 patients with brain tumors, Dr. Black drew on years of experience and personal interaction for this comprehensive resource that equips patients with the tools they need to address a brain tumor diagnosis and the many issues associated with this disease. Through this effort, Dr. Black hopes to encourage greater public awareness about brain tumors, their treatment and impact on patients and their families, a message that resonates strongly with the Brain Science Foundation.

Driving awareness and disseminating education are critical components of the Brain Science Foundation’s greater mission to seed and advance multi-disciplinary research at the BWH into the cause, treatment and prevention of primary brain tumors, such as meningioma.

For this reason, the Brain Science Foundation will be sponsoring a replay of Dr. Black’s book talk throughout March as part of its participation in Brain Awareness Week, an international effort organized by the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives to advance public awareness about the progress and benefits of brain research.

The Brain Science Foundation is offering those people unable to attend the live talk, the opportunity to access a replay of the event starting on Tuesday, March 6, by clicking here
