BSF Extends Welcome to Dr. Edward Laws

The Brain Science Foundation is pleased to announce the arrival of Dr. Edward Laws to the faculty of the Department of Neurosurgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston (BWH).  Dr. Laws is one of the world's experts in the treatment of neuroendocrine disorders, and he brings to BWH his vast experience both in the management of pituitary tumors and related diseases and the use of intraoperative endoscopy to safely and effectively excise these tumors.

Dr. Laws will collaborate with colleagues in Endocrinology to establish a multidisciplinary center for pituitary endocrinology, neurosurgery, skull base surgery, radiosurgery, and radiation oncology at BWH.

Dr. Laws most recently served as co-director of Stanford University's Pituitary/Neuroendocrine Center, which he developed as a valuable clinical resource for patients and an initiative committed to translational research.  Previously, he spent fifteen years as Director of the Pituitary/Neuroendocrine program at the University of Virginia. Earlier in his career, he spent five years as chairman of neurosurgery at George Washington University and fifteen years at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Law's brings exceptional experience and professional achievements to the BSF-BWH partnership. He is the past president of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies and the American College of Surgeons Foundation. He has been the Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, and an honored guest and speaker of organizations throughout the world. Dr. Laws received his MD from Johns Hopkins and completed his residency training in neurological surgery at Johns Hopkins.

The BSF extends a warm welcome to Dr. Laws and looks forward to working with him to enhance and expand the collaboration between the BSF and BWH.
