Sponsored by the International Brain Mapping and Intraoperative Surgical Planning Society (IBMISPS), the 6th Annual World Congress for Brain Mapping and Image Guided Therapy is coming to Boston and will feature many of the BSF’s medical leaders and principal investigators. The premier conference in brain mapping, intraoperative neurosurgical techniques, and related fields will take place at the Joseph B. Martin Conference Center at Harvard Medical School on August 26-29, 2009.
In addition to presenting a keynote address on New Developments in Image-Guided Brain Tumor Therapy, BSF Trustee and BWH Founding Chair Dr. Black will be one of two recipients of the IBMISPS Pioneer in Medicine Award, which recognizes excellence in research, discovery and education, and pioneering work in the field of image guided surgery.
The 6th Annual World Congress for Brain Mapping and Image Guided Therapy will also feature presentations from BWH Neurosurgery Chair and BSF Trustee, Dr. Arthur Day, BWH researchers Dr. Alexandra Golby and Nathalie Agar, PhD, as well as BWH Director of the MRI & Image Guided Therapy Program and National Center for Image Guided Therapy, Dr. Ferenc Jolesz.
The Brain Science Foundation is a critical facilitator of Drs. Black’s and Golby’s work in brain mapping for neurosurgical planning and intra-operative decision making and also currently supports Dr. Nathalie Agar’s research on inoperative molecular imaging by mass spectrometry for the treatment of brain tumors.
