Run for Research

BSF Supporter and Meningioma Patient Christopher Doran organizes Third Party Fundraiser to raise money for the BSF

Ten years ago, Christopher Doran didn't even know what a meningioma was. After having a grand mal seizure in 2000, an MRI revealed that he had a meningioma in the parasagital region of his brain. Today, Christopher is married and the father of two children. After recently finding out that his tumor had grown, Christopher and his wife Amy decided to further commit themselves to the pursuit of a cure. They had always supported the work of the Brain Science Foundation; now they wanted to find a way to make an even more significant impact on funding the initiatives that the BSF supports. Christopher and Amy joined the BSF as Frontrunners, or third party fundraisers. Together, they are making a difference in the mission to eradicate primary brain tumors.

"Meningioma survivors live with a certain level of uncertainty in their lives," Doran stated.  "Participating in the BSF Frontrunner Program is a way for us to ensure we're actively working to find a cure for meningiomas. Imagine what we could do if the thousands of meningioma patients helped contribute to the critical efforts of the Brain Science Foundation."

On January 24, 2010, Christopher and Amy will run a half marathon in Austin, Texas to raise funds to support the BSF.

They've set up a fundraising page for friends, family members and fellow supporters to help them reach their goal of $5,000. To help Christopher and Amy make a difference and reach their goal, please consider making a donation to their cause at http://www.firstgiving.com/meningioma.

The Brain Science Foundation thanks Christopher and Amy for their dedication to the cause and wishes them the best of luck in this pursuit. With the support of volunteers like Christopher and Amy, the BSF will move closer each day to its ultimate goal of finding a cure.
