Determination. Everyone affected by a brain tumor knows the importance of that trait. BSF constituents Christopher Doran and Amy Atwater put their determination to the test when they set out to raise $5,000 for the BSF by seeking sponsors and running a half-marathon. This husband and wife team embarked on a dual challenge – a physical challenge to train and prepare for a 13.1 mile run and a personal challenge to raise much needed funds for brain tumor research - a cause near and dear to their hearts. Their determination paid off as they finished the race and more than doubled their personal fundraising goal, bring in over $11,000 to support the Brain Science Foundation. On January 24th, Christopher and Amy took part in the 3M Half Marathon in Austin, TX, finishing in just 2 hours and 23 minutes.
"Meningioma survivors live with a certain level of uncertainty in their lives," Doran stated. "Participating in the BSF Frontrunner Program is a way for us to ensure we're actively working to find a cure for meningiomas. Imagine what we could do if the thousands of meningioma patients helped contribute to the critical efforts of the Brain Science Foundation."
The Brain Science Foundation is indebted to Christopher and Amy for their generosity, their determination and their spirit. Their challenge conquered, they’ve proven the old adage, “every accomplishment starts with the decision to try”.
